Sound Level Meters
Sound Meters or Sound Level Meters (SLM) are used to provide an objective measurement of sound pressure levels. The most common form of measurement of sound in the United States or English system is in decibels (db) and metric users use MicroPascals (uPa). Loud noise(s) at your workplace or home at best can be very disturbing and may even cause hearing damage over time. As humans each perceives sound differently sound level meters provide a accurate and repeatable "objective" measurement that can be used to help solve sound and ambient noise volume issues at home or to help ensure a safer OSHA-compliant workplace. RDI's Knowledge Base includes charts showing examples of sound levels from many sources.
